Binesi Training Centre (Binesi) was created to strengthen local participation and capacity in the technology sector. As telecommunications continuously expands and evolves, Binesi is dedicated to equipping people for the industry in Winnipeg, rural areas, and Indigenous communities across Manitoba.

Welcome to the Binesi Training Centre

Binesi Training Centre is a telecommunications micro-training facility that aims to equip trainees with the skills necessary to join the workforce right away. It was created to provide versatile training to continue the expansion of internet services to rural and remote communities throughout Manitoba. Wherever networks are needed, technicians must be available to engineer, build, and maintain the systems which rely on them.

Courses

Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT)
Duration: Four Days (32 hours)
$1275 + GST

This four-day training session includes theory and practical aspects of fiber optic cable in the areas of communication and data transmission. Intended for individuals who wish to increase their knowledge and gain hands-on skills in fiber optics technology in preparation for writing the Fiber Optics Association (FOA) exam. Students will get the practical aspects of working with fiber optic cables, including connectors and terminations, fusion splicing and testing along with the theory and understanding of how fiber optic networks function. They will gain exposure to various methods and fiber types used in the industry.

Certified Fiber Optic Specialist-Outside Plant (CFOS/O)

Duration: Two Days (16 hours)
$789 + GST

This two-day program will introduce the student to standards governing the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of outside plant (OSP) fiber optics cable systems. Students will learn various types of cable and enclosures for OSP applications, how to troubleshoot and test using plans as well as the OTDR, VFL and loss test set. Our course is more than 70% hands on because we learn best by doing. The course concludes with a written and practical examination.

Certified Fiber Optic Specialist/Splicing (CFOS/S)

Duration: Two Days (16 hours)
$789 + GST

This is a specialist certification covering fiber optic splicing procedures intended for technicians involved in the installation of OSP fiber networks. With our hands on training approach student will learn all types of splicing, including fusion and mechanical splicing; and interpretation of splice loss on OTDR traces. The Instructor will test and provide verification of achievement of advanced skills in splicing. The course consists of 60% lab time.

Solar Design & Installer Training
Duration: Two Days (16 hours)
$995 + GST

The students learn the science behind solar power, electrical basics, performing site evaluations and the function and integration of all components of a solar powered system, both grid tied and off grid. All students will manually assemble a fully operational roof, pole and ground mounted solar powered system. Topics include: the Business of Solar, How Solar Works, solar module choices and characteristics, site evaluation, shading analysis, permits and suppliers, mounting solar modules, solar system design, wiring, and maintenance.

CompTIA IT Fundamentals+
Duration: Five Days (40 hours)
$1575 + GST

This course will give participants the opportunity to learn some of the basic principles and techniques of providing support to users with personal computers, mobile devices, and with applications, and computer networks. General Information Technology (IT) foundations. There are no prerequisites for this course and successful completion of this certification lays the groundwork for all other CompTIA certification courses. On course completion, participants will be able to: Set up a computer workstation and use basic software applications. Explain the functions and types of devices used within a computer system. Apply basic computer maintenance and support principles. Describe some principles of software and database development. Configure computers and mobile devices to connect to home networks and to the Internet. Identify security issues affecting the use of computers and networks.

CompTIA A+
Duration: Ten Days (80 hours)
$3295 + GST

CompTIA A+ certification is an internationally recognized, vendor-neutral certification that many employers consider a prerequisite for entry-level IT employment. A+ certification signifies that the individual is capable of performing tasks such as installation, configuration and troubleshooting of common PC systems.

The Official CompTIA® A+® Core 1 and Core 2 (Exams 220-1001 and 220-1002) course provides the background knowledge and skills you will require to be a successful A+ technician. It will help you prepare to take the CompTIA A+ Core Series certification examinations (exam numbers 220-1001 and 2201002), in order to become a CompTIA A+ Certified Professional.

MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA)
Duration: Three days
$995 + GST

Outcomes: By the end of this training session, the student will be familiar with RouterOS software and RouterBOARD products and be able to connect the client to the Internet. They will also be able to configure, manage, do basic troubleshooting of a MikroTik router and provide basic services to clients. Target audience: Network engineers and technicians wanting to deploy and support: Corporate networks & Client CPEs (WISPs and ISPs)

Course prerequisites: The student must have a good understanding of TCP/IP and subnetting. It is recommended the student have completed a networking course before taking MikroTik (MTCNA).

Mikrotik Certified Routing Engineer (MTCRE)
Duration: Two days
$795 + GST

Outcomes: By the end of this training session, the student will be able to plan, implement and debug routed MikroTik RouterOS network configurations.Target audience: Network engineers and technicians wanting to deploy and support static and/or dynamic routed networks.

MikroTik Certified IPv6 Engineer (MTCIPv6E)
Duration: 2 days
$795 + GST

Outcomes: By the end of this training session, the student will be familiar with IPv6 protocol and be capable to implement IPv6 network. Target audience: Network engineers and technicians wanting to deploy and support IPv6 based: Corporate networks & Client CPEs (WISPs and ISPs)

Smart Work Ethics

Duration: Three Days (24 hours)

From making a good first impression to knowing what interpersonal skills are required in today’s workplace, employees need to be aware of what their employers look for, look at, and measure when they hire and promote employees. Employees who are unaware of these standards risk losing their job and becoming part of the “revolving entry level” employee. Employee responsibility is often the missing vital link in the working arena. This course presents the “need to know” essentials for today’s workplace, regardless of where that workplace is. The universal standards for thriving in a work environment will be presented and discussed and participants will develop an understanding of what employers want and look for in employees to dramatically reduce costly turnover.
